Family Reunion

Family Reunion

For those looking for a hotel we recommend:

  • AC Hotel by Marriott, Downtown Columbus, GA at 1225 Broadway, rear parking lot is across the street from the powerhouse. We also understand it has excellent rates for veterans.
  • The Hampton Inn has also recently opened a hotel nearby on Broadway and,
  • The Indigo Hotel is within walking distance.

Our Theme – “Caroline’s Tribe Resilient & Strong”

The central location of the 2023 reunion will be the “Powerhouse”. It is located off 1205 Front Ave. Columbus, GA 31901. If you are not familiar with the location, we recommend you make a dry run to the area to check it out. The powerhouse is set back about a tenth of a mile in from Front Avenue, just past the EPIC restaurant.

If you are bringing someone to the powerhouse who has trouble walking a distance or uses a wheelchair, walker, or cane, we suggest you drive down to the alley/cul-de-sac in front of the EPIC restaurant to let him or her out; then park your car.

Please Park at the City of Columbus Bay Avenue Parking Garage located on Front Ave unless you are staying at a nearby hotel. Parking should be free of charge. Diagrams on following pages in the newsletter show that after leaving the garage you can take a short cut through a breezeway to get to the Powerhouse.

Caution!!

The powerhouse consists of two buildings separated by a wide walkway, part of which is a grassy area (pictured on the other side of this page). The powerhouse facility spans the Chattahoochee River rapids. A tubular metal and metal lattice gate borders the edge of the facility. The result is the beautiful and safe view of this portion of the rapids underneath. This can pose risks to small children who may not appreciate the dangers of climbing or playing too close to the edge of the facility.

Our goal is to sponsor a safe and enjoyable weekend for our family at this beautiful venue. To that end we must ask that parents and guardians of children under 12 years of age provide direct supervision of their children in their care when they are anywhere outside of the buildings on the site. It is the nature of small children to play and enjoy themselves, often being unaware of and insensitive to the dangers surrounding them. We want all our children to safely enjoy these spectacular views also. Their parents/guardians must ensure they do so safely and not play or climb in areas that pose a risk to their safety.
